Worked at Panasonic today again. We're still cleaning microwaves (and when we finished, we had a lot put in place to start on tomorrow, so yeah) but I wasn't cleaning today.
Instead I was doing "Haul and stack" duty with Johnny. Basically, we were responsible for taking new microwaves to the cleaners and pulling them out of the box onto the table. Then when they were done, we would put the microwave back in the box, take it away, replace it (pulling it out again) and then tape seal the box and stack it into a skid. The two of us could barely keep up. Whenever we had some slack time, we moved more microwaves from the back to the front.
Morning went well. Afternoon not so well. We moved onto new models. Which were bigger. And thus heavier. Significantly heavier. The work actually got miserable at that point because it was so much work. Definately the hardest day there so far.
The other highlight of the day was the absolute fucking asshole temp we had in. He's the kind of guy who has a look on his face that says "No, I do NOT have a chip on my shoulder. I have a fucking apartment building there instead."
Early on, he made it VERY clear that he "liked to work alone as much as possible." This meant that he refused to let me do any of my job (boxing, taping, stacking) at all, except that he would condescend to let me bring him a new microwave. But not open or unpack it, oh no. Lets not forget that he put the boxes on the skids wrong over half the time.
But the crowning achievement? His inability to follow simple instructions! Under the excuse of being a perfectionist, he would peel the blue film off one side of the microwave, and then TURN IT ON IT'S NOW-EXPOSED SIDE in order to peel off the rest. This made him extremely slow, for starters, and no more perfect. Quite frankly, he sucked at the job. But that's not all. I tried to give him a pointer, and he snapped back at me "Don't tell me how to do my fucking job!"
Remember when I said he turned these microwaves on their sides? Less than half an hour after he started, he RUINED a microwave that way! Totally scuffed the hell out of the side of it.
An hour later? HE DID IT AGAIN.
Completely ruined a pair of $300+ microwaves in less than 2 hours, in the name of "perfectionism".
After that? He got turfed out. Sent home. He stormed off in a fit of wangsty indignation, and EVERYONE IN THE BUILDING breathed a sigh of relief, I swear. Seriously, all us temps AND a couple of the regulars were going amongst ourselves and saying "good fucking riddance". Hell, even at the end of the day... I walk out to the lobby in order to sign out, and one of the regulars is telling the OTHER regulars, who never saw him, how fucking awful he was.
Met another girl at work today, Debbie. Her and I have seen each other around the welfare office and mall and such for like 3-4 years now, but never really talked. Rode the bus home with her. She gets off the same bus I take bus literally 4 stops after I do. Twas fun, she's a silly person, but I'm sillier. Might hang out with her some time. Even though she says I'm not her type, heh.
Already have a line on a potential roomie. Johnny (see above) is looking for a place, so he's probably going to drop by here tomorrow night to check it out. Him and I get along great already, so yeah.
