Back at Panasonic. Late, though. Fucking busses. I get downtown, wait for my bus... and it drives right on by, not even stoppingto pick anyone up! So I'm forced to wait for the next bus. FOURTY FIVE FUCKING MINUTES.
So I'm 45 minutes late. Bloody hell. Surinder (supervisor) is a nice guy though and clocked me in as 9:00 even though I didn't start till 9:20

So yeah, not inspecting microwaves today. Much smaller microwaves. Well... mostly not inspecting them.
You know how many appliances and stuff come covered with a thin plastic film that you have to peel off after you get it out of the box?

They apply that by wrapping the object in it, and then briefly baking it in an over to make it shrink and stick. However, this time the oven was too hot, and the labels that went on the outside of the film (telling you to remove the film before use) had their glue melt through and stick to the stainless steel of the microwave.

So we had to do the following.
1: Unpack microwave from box
2: Remove plastic film (slow and annoying)
3: Wipe off glue with rubbing alcohol
4: Wipe off residue with polish
5: Wipe off that residue with steel cleaner
6: Wipe off THAT residue with a damp (plain water) cloth
7: Dry it off and polish it with a buffing cloth
8: Repack the microwave in the box
9: Stack box in a pallet
10: Go to 1.

We only finished 150 in the morning... Surinder was kind of disappointed. He was hoping for 200. We did managed 210 in the afternoon though - we went past quitting time by like 10 minutes to finish the last skid (making 360. 24 microwaves to a skid times 15 skids).

In the afternoon I was taken off doing the microwaves, and put with Johnny in just cutting the boxes open, delivering them to those who needed new ones, unpacking them for them, helping repack, and then resealing with tape and stacking. This kept things going pretty fast.

A good days work all told. We still have more left to do tomorrow, but we'll probably move on to something else after we're done those.

==================

After work, [livejournal.com profile] glowing_dragon invited me out for dinner. Since it was only a 15 minute bus ride from work to Richmond Centre, I went. Dinner (Boston Pizza) was good. She also invited me to crash at her place, because it's close to work (less than half an hour, compared to the roughly hour and 45 minutes from home), so that's where I am now. Yay.
