palmer_kun: (I'll Be In My Bunk)
Wow, has it been nearly 2 weeks already? Oy vey.

Observation: Peterborough tap water tastes like dirt. No, literally like actual potting soil. I'm serious here.

Don't ask me why I know what potting soil tastes like. Just trust me on this. But it's nice to be back where there's GOOD water to drink.

Anyhow, finally went to Peterborough and hung with [livejournal.com profile] lady_zip and other assorted people who I'm not naming because they only came over once or twice (yes you :p)

Flying out was no issue. Smooth flight, arrived ahead of time even. Coming back?
Ended up on a shuttle bus back to the airport. Various things came up that prevented everyone from giving me a ride back to the airport. So they popped me on the 2pm shuttle, figuring it would get me there about 5:30, which was good since my flight left at 6:30.

Except that it was the weekend. And so the 401 wasn't packed with rush hour traffic. And so I arrived at the terminal at 3:30 instead. Cue a very long wait. And lots of reading.

So then the plane finally pulls in and unloads. And there's maintenance trucks around it. And firetrucks. And they have one of the engines open...

Turns out it was leaking fuel, so obviously we aren't flying out on that one. They have to scramble to find us a replacement plane, and eventually do... but it's a smaller plane. So everyone in rows 24-28 had to get their seats shuffled onto a different plane, or something. I was in 9C though, so it wasn't an issue. Ultimately, it was a half hour delay, which is surprisingly little for an issue like that.

Once I was back home, it wasn't too bad either. My busses all made perfect connections and I got home right quick and easy.

But anyhow, yeah, about the trip itself. It was highly amusing. We both had planned on all day anime marathons and moviefests and the like while I was there. Every day we talked about what to watch the next day.

We didn't watch a gorram thing. Except the pilot for Firefly, because we had to introduce Kuju to it. Didn't play any video games either. Instead we hung out, and had good food, and talked about lots of stuff, and went around the city, and just had fun. Everything was all groovy. ot much in the way of actual details to give beyond what I just did. We're both very low-key by nature, and the time we spent reflected that.

What can I say about Amanda that does her justice? )

All in all... I don't think I've ever been quite as happy in my entire life as I have been the last two weeks. Well, maybe I have been, but I don't remember it, so it doesn't count.

But it's also good to be home. And it's late. And so as my icon says... I'll be in my bunk.
