Not too much to say about these books, unlike the first two.

#3 was Spirits In The wires by Charles de Lint. Personally, I think I was spoiled by reading Someplace To Be Flying first. de Lint's other Newford books just haven't grabbed me the same way. Don't get me wrong, they're GREAT books. But this is like comparing Indiana Jones (which is fabulous) to the real Star Wars trilogy (which is absolutely magnificent). Spirits In The Wires is a pretty straightforward CDL tale (which is to say, bloody convoluted and confusing) with a few good head-scratching thoughts tossed in to ponder after you're done. Thoroughly enjoyable and worth reading, but nothing special.

#4 was Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold. Now this was good. It caught me up pretty quickly, and it was hard to put down. More than once I was late getting somewhere because I stayed in the tub reading it too long :) The setting is fascinating, the characters are lovable, the plot is satisfyingly twisty, and alltogether it's a great book. Must, find, more...

So what did I check out of the library yesterday? 9 Graphic Novels, 2 George Carlin books and a paperback fantasy anthology.

Mmmm... Batman Graphic Novels...
